Hair transplants have been used to treat hair loss since the 1950s. However, whilst the treatment name remains the same, the techniques in use today are a long way from the rudimentary methods from 60+ years ago. In the early days of hair transplantation, “hair plugs” were formed of 15-20 hair follicles. These grafts were arranged in rows on the scalp, giving an unfortunately artificial appearance.
Today, the process has been improved and results are so natural looking that even your barber/hair stylist will struggle to identify the areas of transplanted hair. At Novomed Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, our expert dermatologist Dr Fadi Al Sabbagh has performed more than 2,500 hair transplants.
