Dr Hany has extensive experience in working with adults to treat depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, OCD, schizophrenia and many other conditions. In children and adolescents, he has a special interest in learning disabilities, hyperactivity, autism, behavioural difficulties and intellectual disability. He also offers family counselling and marital therapy.
Dr Hany speaks English and Arabic. In addition to the UAE, he has an active license to practice in Ontario, Canada, and Virginia, USA.
Notable memberships and roles
Dr Hany has held many prestigious posts including Head of Department at the Children’s Psychiatric Research Institute in Canada, and Consultant at the Psychiatric Services division of Dhahran Health Center (part of Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare).
He is very active in his field, working towards enhancing the standards and practice of psychiatry. To this end he has served as an Examiner for the Medical Council of Canada and the Arab Board of Psychiatry. He is also founder and chair of the psychiatric association MENAMAT (Middle East North Africa Mood an Anxiety Treatment), which works towards shaping psychiatric treatment in the region. In addition, he has been published in leading scientific journals as well as speaking at international conferences and being a keynote speaker for the pharmaceutical industry for more than 30 years. His speaking accolades include being named the best presenter at the Harvard Medical School Conference in Dubai in 2007.
