Prof. Dr. Fatma Gultekin is a specialist general surgeon with particular interest in colorectal surgery, proctology and pelvic floor diseases. She is a European Coloproctology Board Certified “Colorectal Surgeon” with more than 18 years of experience.

Dr Gultekin earned her Bachelor of Medicine from Uludag University, Bursa, Turkey, Specialty Degree in General Surgery from Gazi University, Ankara, Turkey and Professor of Surgery title from Zonguldak Bulent Ecevit University, Zonguldak, Turkey

Dr. Gultekin worked as an Professor of Surgery and Colorectal Surgeon at Zonguldak Bulent Ecevit University Hospital, Zonguldak, Turkey one of the biggest colorectal surgery and proctology reference center of Black Sea Region of Turkey for 13 years prior to moving to Dubai.

In addition, Dr Gultekin observed and joined laparoscopic, robotic colorectal surgeries and clinical practices at Minnesota University Colorectal Surgery Department and Pelvic Floor Center, Minnesota, USA on 2011, Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, USA on 2012 and Nantes University Hospital, Digestive Disease Colorectal Surgery Department, Nantes, France on 2013

Dr. Gultekin is one of the most well-known female colorectal surgeon, for laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgeries, laparoscopic surgeries for pelvic floor disorders such as rectal prolapse. Her clinical practices also has been focusing on latest minimally invasive procedures for treating hemorrhoids, anal fistula, rectovaginal fistula, pilonidal sinus, anal warts, pelvic floor dyssynergia, chronic anal and pelvic pain , fecal incontinence, anal stricture and stenosis. She has excellent outcomes in her work.

Dr Gultekin has been a skillful endoscopist and has performed more than 5000 colonoscopies past 13 years. She also performs gastroscopy and sigmoidoscopy. In addition, she performs  high resolution anascopy, endoanal ultrasound and anorectal manometry.

Dr. Gultekin is an internationally renowned surgeon and speaker in major meetings and congresses nationally and internationally. She has published numerous articles in various national and international peer-reviewed Journals. Dr. Gultekin is the editor in chief of the Turkish Journal of Colorectal Disease. She is an international fellow of American Society of Colorectal Surgeons, fellow of European Society of Coloproctology and Turkish Society of Colon and Rectal Surgery. She is also member of Turkish Surgical Association.
