What We Treat

Breast augmentation in RAK and Fujairah

Breast augmentation, also known as augmentation mammoplasty, is a popular cosmetic procedure that uses implants, fat transfers, or both to increase the size and shape of your breasts. This procedure helps restore the lost volume in the breasts after weight loss or pregnancy and gives them a more rounded and symmetrical look. Sometimes, it is possible to combine breast augmentation with other cosmetic procedures, such as a breast lift.

What are the benefits of breast augmentation?

Breast augmentation offers many advantages, including:

  • Correct breast asymmetry.
  • Boost your confidence.
  • Rebuild the breasts after a mastectomy or injury.
  • Improve the appearance of your breasts.

Am I a suitable candidate for breast augmentation?

You may be a good candidate for breast augmentation if you are unhappy with the size of your breasts or if they are asymmetrical. Suitable candidates include those who are in good physical health and are not pregnant or nursing. Our plastic surgeon will decide which type of breast augmentation is best for you and whether you are a good candidate for it.

What are the different types of implants?

Our plastic surgeon will discuss the different types of implants and help you decide which type is ideal for you.

There are two types of breast implants:

Saline implants

Saline-filled implants are filled with sterile salt water. They are either pre-filled to a predetermined size or filled once they are in place during the procedure. Novomed offers saline-filled implants and structured saline-filled implants. Structured saline-filled breast implants were approved by the FDA in 2014.

Silicone implants

Silicone implants are pre-filled with an elastic, soft gel that mimics the texture of human fat and requires a slightly longer incision than saline-filled implants. This implant type has been used since 1992 and was approved by the FDA in 2012.

What to expect before the procedure?

During your consultation, our plastic surgeon will review your medical history and examine your breasts to ensure that you are suitable for the procedure. You will discuss with them your choices for the size, feel, and appearance of your breasts. They will most likely ask you to refrain from smoking and take certain medications, such as aspirin and ibuprofen before the procedure. The doctor will also recommend you arrange for someone to drive you home and accompany you on the night of the surgery.

How is breast augmentation performed?

The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and takes around one and a half hours to complete.

The surgeon will make an incision in the armpit area to avoid leaving any scars on your breast and then insert the implant into a pocket under or above the pectoralis muscle. The insertion technique and implant placement depends on the implant type used, the desired level of augmentation, your body type, and the doctor’s recommendations.

After inserting the implant and ensuring it is in the proper position, the surgeon will repair the incision with stitches and close it with skin adhesive and surgical tape. The incision mark left from the procedure will become less noticeable over time, and its location under the arm will keep it hidden.

What to expect after the procedure?

You should be able to go home after the procedure once your condition is stable. During recovery, your breasts will be wrapped in a supporting garment (a bra or an elastic bandage) to reduce swelling and support the breasts as they heal. The doctor will provide instructions for your recovery period and prescribe pain relievers to improve the healing process; You should avoid strenuous activities until you get permission from the physician to increase your activity level.

Breast augmentation gives immediate results, but the final results will gradually become visible as the swelling subsides and the skin stretches, revealing your ideal figure. However, implants will not last a lifetime and will eventually need to be replaced. Following augmentation, aging, weight gain, or weight loss may alter the appearance of your breasts. If you are unhappy with the way your breasts look in the future, you may require further surgery to remedy the problem.
