What We Treat

Thermage

What is Thermage technology?

Thermage is a pioneering technology with a new concept to tighten the skin, remove wrinkles, define facial contours, and reduce the effects of premature aging. This technology is getting popular among people since it does not require any injections or surgical intervention.

Thermage mainly aims to stimulate the production of collagen, the vital substance for skin freshness and firmness, by using safe radio waves. Clinical results have proven successful in skin tightening and wrinkle treatment.

Who is a suitable candidate for Thermage?

Although Thermage has been described as a non-surgical facelift, it is not a substitute for a facelift. Thermage can provide some of the improvements that facial plastic surgery offers and is best performed to treat early signs of aging, such as:

  • Early jowls
  • Loosen the skin
  • Fine lines around the nose and mouth
  • Wrinkles around the nose and mouth

What are the risks and complications of Thermage?

  • Swelling and redness
  • Blistering and scarring
  • Tingling and burning sensation for a few days after treatment
  • Soreness, particularly around the jawline

What does a Thermage session involve?

In most cases, no local anesthetics or pain relievers are required.

A treatment grid is applied to the face to guide and direct the treatment, so all areas are treated without unintended overlapping of RF delivery.

A special solution is applied to the treatment areas, which provides a conductive medium to ensure good electrical and thermal contact with the skin and the treatment tip.

Through the Thermage device tip, a combination of cooling spray and RF energy is delivered. A cooling spray continuously cools the outer layers of the skin to prevent any burning.

Depending on your pain threshold, you may feel nothing, mild warmth, or intense warmth with each pulse of energy.

The RF levels will be adjusted up or down so that therapeutic heat levels are reached without excessive disturbance.

The treatment time varies according to the area (s) being treated and the number of times the tip is passed over the skin. A Thermage session can take from one to two hours from start to finish.

What happens after a Thermage session?

Some redness and swelling may occur after the procedure, which may last for 1-2 hours, or at most for a few days.
The results are difficult to predict. Some see improvement immediately or within a few weeks, while others see improvement only after 2-3 months. New collagen grows for up to 6 months after treatment, so improvements should be visible up to this time.

Does Thermage cause any pain or discomfort?

Thermage is powered by continued cooling or CPT (Comfort Pulse Technology). The technology may create temporary discomfort depending on individual pain tolerance, skin sensitivity, and the area being treated. This sensation is only temporary, indicating that collagen renewal is taking place underneath. Patients receive topical numbing creams before the procedure, as well as oral medications.

How many sessions would I need to get a good result?

A single treatment is usually sufficient to yield visible skin tightening and rejuvenation effects. Some patients, however, may need more than one session, depending on the skin condition.
