What We Treat

Apronectomy in Dubai

Apronectomy is a surgical procedure that removes the excess skin and fat that forms an overhanging abdominal apron to create a flat and more contoured abdomen. It is not as extensive as a tummy tuck and carries much fewer risks.

The surgery involves removing excess tissue through a horizontal incision like the one made in a cesarean section. It should be noted that this procedure does not address the excess tissue in the upper and middle abdomen. Our plastic surgeons are experienced at performing all types of body lifting and reshaping surgeries and can help you choose the procedure that suits your needs and desired goals.

What are the benefits of this surgery?

This surgery removes excess skin creating the apron shape at the lower abdomen, which helps improve symptoms such as rashes, irritation and sores and improves your ability to perform your daily activities.

Am I a suitable candidate for this surgery?

Apronectomy may be a good option for you if:

  • You follow a healthy diet and exercise regularly but can not get the desired shape.
  • You lost a massive amount of weight that led to the appearance of excess skin.
  • Your pregnancy caused your skin to stretch and weakened your abdominal wall.

What to expect during apronectomy?

Apronectomy is performed at our surgical hospital with a 1–2-night stay. The surgery is done under general anesthesia and takes 2 to 3 hours to complete. The surgeon makes an incision at the lower section of the abdomen to remove excess skin and fat, and then the incision will be closed, and drains may be inserted if necessary.

What happens during the recovery period?

After the surgery, you will stay for 1-2 nights in the hospital, and before you are discharged, your surgeon will ask you to wear a compression garment to assist your recovery.

During the first week of your recovery, you need to stay at home and remain active and hydrated. In the second week and after the doctor ensure that your wound is healing normally, you can go out for some light activities; however, you should avoid driving for two weeks and sports for about six weeks. You will have regular appointments with our medical team to ensure that your recovery is going well.
