Breast Augmentation in Sharjah, Ajman, and Umm Al Quwain

Overview

Breast augmentation, commonly referred to as a boob job, is a procedure that involves making the breasts larger using breast implants or fat transfer. This procedure can also help restore breast volume after losing weight or having a baby, correct the asymmetry of a woman’s natural breast size or give her a more rounded shape.

Whether you wish to boost your natural features or are unhappy with your breasts’ size, shape, or symmetry, breast augmentation can improve your body shape and boost your confidence.

Types of breast implants

We mainly offer two types of breast implants: saline and silicone.

Both saline and silicone breast implants have a silicone rubber exterior. The filling is the fundamental distinction between them. If you opt for saline implants, your surgeon will place them empty before filling them with sterile salt water or saline solution. On the other hand, silicone implants come pre-filled with denser silicone gel and feel more like natural breast tissue.

The (FDA) has authorized saline and silicone implants for breast enlargement in women aged 18 and older and 22 and older, respectively.

How to prepare for a breast augmentation?

Your surgeon will provide you with all the details you need regarding the surgery, in addition to the expected outcomes.

If you smoke regularly, your doctor may advise you to quit since smoking delays the healing process following surgery. You’ll also be instructed to stop taking some medication that can cause surgery-related complications or substitute them with new ones. Additionally, being as physically fit as possible is essential to facilitate healing and recovery.

What happens during a breast augmentation procedure?

Our experienced plastic surgery team will start by marking the desired location for the incision and the implant and insert an IV so your body can receive fluids, a sedative, a general anesthetic, and painkillers.

The surgeon will make an incision under the arm or beneath the breast’s natural fold, then insert the implants between the breast tissue and the chest muscle or below the major chest muscle beneath the breast. These different placement techniques help us customize the result in terms of the shape and size of the breasts.

Your surgeon will ensure a symmetrical look by examining your breasts and adjusting the pocket or implant position to obtain the desired look. The surgeon will close the incision with dissolvable stitches (sutures), skin glue, or surgical tape.

Recovery after a breast augmentation

Your breasts will be bandaged and fitted with a surgical bra. You will spend one to two hours in a recovery room and be discharged when you feel well enough to go home. We will give you prescribed medication to help you control your discomfort and avoid infection.

You may experience swelling and bruising around your chest for a week or two. Your doctor may advise you to wear additional breast support for a few weeks while your breasts heal.

Your surgeon will give you detailed guidelines for your breast augmentation surgery recovery and arrange a follow-up appointment. If you have drainage tubes, your surgeon will inform you when you should return to have them removed, as well as when you should remove the gauze bandages.

FAQs

Is breast augmentation painful?

As the breast augmentation procedure is conducted under a general anesthetic, you will not experience any pain. After the anesthetic wears off, you may likely experience tenderness below your armpits or around your breasts. However, these symptoms can be managed with painkillers and will subside over time.

Does breast augmentation cause breast cancer?

No. Multiple studies have shown that women with breast implants do not have a higher risk of developing breast cancer.
