The most popular procedure used for a beard transplant is called Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), it is a straightforward procedure with little down time, side effects and no scarring.
There are three stages to a beard transplant procedure:
Hair preparation– hair from the donor area which is usually the back or side of the head is washed and shaved. Local anesthetic is then applied to the donor area to reduce discomfort.
Extraction– involves a process called Follicular Unit Extraction which is the removal of the hair follicle and root. The hair is removed in grafts of 1, 2 or 3 hairs as opposed to a single strip of hair line helping to create a natural look.
Placement– the hair grafts are placed evenly to match the existing beard pattern, angle and desired density.
After 2-8 weeks of the beard transplant procedure you may experience some beard hair fallout, this is a natural process which will promote the regrowth of stronger thicker hair. The results take between 12-18 months to appear achieving a contoured beard line with a thicker and fuller beard.
