Developmental assessments: speech delay, autism, ADHD
Although early medical intervention is extremely important for a child deviating from normal developmental patterns, intervention at any age can be helpful. Developmental assessment is an important phase of pediatric care at Novomed Specialized Clinics, for evaluating the performance of children who have or are at risk for developmental delays and speech disorders.
Often, children’s developmental and speech delays are not identified as early as possible. Research shows that early medical intervention can greatly improve children’s development, by helping them learn important skills to perform well in social settings for example, in school, at home, and in the community. These services we offer include a variety of options, taking into account the child’s specific needs, for example, therapy to help the child talk, move and walk, and socialize with others.
In cooperation with the specialized department at Novomed Psychiatry & Neurology, our pediatricians can offer comprehensive assessments that will explore how your child is developing physically, intellectually, socially and emotionally. Our specialists will tailor these tests to suit the needs of each child. During the development assessments, factors such as growth, behavior, play and interaction with family members will all be monitored. Children are presented with standardized tests to establish areas of strength and weakness.
In terms of treatment, our pediatricians work as part of a multidisciplinary team and can refer patients to the relevant expert and work alongside them to treat each child holistically.
When parents are concerned about their children’s developmental, learning, or behavioral problems – they are left wondering where to go for more specific advice and guidance.
