Pediatric dental treatments

We offer a full range of pediatric dental treatments at our fully equipped clinic.

White Fillings

This tooth-colored mixture of resin and glass is used to restore broken or decayed teeth. At Novomed, we use long-lasting materials such as Composite and place a rubber dam (a piece of rubber stretched over the tooth during treatment to isolate it from bacteria in the oral cavity) to enhance the treatment quality.

Fissure Sealants

These are white, plastic coatings applied to the biting surface of the back teeth that are lined with pits and fissures., providing a perfect environment for bacteria to breed. To prevent cavities in these surfaces, we can cover them with a special composite called fissure sealant, which has proven to reduce the development of cavities. This treatment is easy to do and completely safe and comfortable for children from the age of three.

Dental Crowns

These tooth-shaped caps are pre-manufactured in different sizes and shapes, and they can be easily adjusted to fit perfectly to your child’s tooth. Dental crowns are made of enduring materials; the silver crowns are made of stainless steel and the white of ceramic, to typically last for the life of a baby’s tooth until it is naturally lost.

We are keen to save primary teeth whenever possible, but there are occasions when an extraction may be necessary. We extract teeth under sedation, so the child feels no pain, and we prescribe medications that help manage any discomfort after the

effect of sedation wears off. After tooth extraction, your child should avoid physical activities for the rest of the day. Try to give them as much rest as possible but keep their head upright to prevent bleeding.

Space Maintainers

The primary molars play a vital role in maintaining the space for the permanent teeth. If a primary molar is lost prematurely, space maintainers can be fitted to take over this crucial function.

– Fixed space maintainer. A fixed space maintainer is made of stainless steel and permanently attached to the neighboring teeth. The dentist will remove the space maintainer once the permanent tooth grows into the space.

– Removable space maintainer. Following tooth extraction, an impression will be taken and sent to a dental laboratory to create a custom-made removable space maintainer. The child should wear the removable space maintainer for at least 14 hrs (Mostly during the night).

Our dentists can save decayed primary teeth by performing a pulpotomy; a treatment which removes the infected nerve tissue in the crown of the tooth, while the nerve in the root of the tooth remains vital. After a pulpotomy, the dentist will fit a premanufactured crown onto the tooth as it will need structural support and a tight cover that protects the tooth from bacteria.

Emergency Visits

Seeing an emergency pediatric dentist as soon as possible is very important If your child has throbbing pain, fever or fatigue caused by dental trauma, tooth inflammation or others. Our pediatric dentistry clinic in Dubai will address the pain swiftly and gently without provoking fear or anxiety in your child.

The most common cause of dental pain is tooth decay, but it also may be due to teething, mouth ulcers, swelling in the gums, or cold sore.
