What We Treat

New Born & Infant Care in Dubai

Breast-feeding support

Our pediatricians offer breast-feeding advice to new mothers, and can help with any issues or support you might need.

Neonatal examination

A newborn baby is at a higher risk of contracting diseases, and therefore requires appropriate care that lays the foundation of a healthy life.

Some infants are born prematurely and need significant medical intervention or careful monitoring while they grow. Others, despite being full-term babies, may experience complications. Your neonate’s first examination includes, but is not limited to:

  • Measuring weight, length, and head circumference
  • Checking temperature
  • Measuring breathing and heart rate
  • Monitoring activity
  • Cleaning of the umbilical cord stump
  • Giving necessary shots upon parents’ consent

Immunization for infants

Infants are particularly vulnerable to infections; that is why it is very important to protect them through immunization

Today, most children in the United Arab Emirates lead much healthier lives while parents live with much less worry over dangerous diseases during childhood. This is thanks to “Immunization”, as it has turned out to be one of the biggest medical breakthroughs, making potentially life-threatening childhood diseases rare today. Often called vaccines or shots, immunization is a simple yet effective way of protecting children early in life. It works by triggering the baby’s immune system (a germ-fighting machine) to build up antibodies that effectively respond to certain infections and diseases. So if the immunized baby comes in contact with these diseases, their immune systems are strong enough to fight against them and help protect their bodies from contracting the disease or greatly reducing its severity.

Immunize Your Child Against Diseases

Diphtheria

DTaP shots provide protection against diphtheria. The disease can cause a thick covering in the back of the nose or throat, making breathing or swallowing difficult for infants.

Haemophilus influenzae

Often termed HIB, this disease seriously damages your child’s brain and hearing.

Hepatitis A and B

Hepatitis is a contagious liver disease that is transmitted through person-to-person contact, blood, bodily fluids, and contaminated food and water. Babies who contract it from their mothers can become chronically infected; therefore, parents must ensure that their newborns get Hepatitis shots to strengthen their immune systems.

Measles

MMR shots prevent your infant from contracting the contagious disease of measles.

Mumps

This is a contagious disease with no effective treatment. It causes puffy cheeks, swollen jaw, fever, head and muscle aches, and tiredness.

Pneumococcal disease

It is important to protect your child from pneumococcal disease, as it not only causes ear infections, sinus infections, and pneumonia, but may also lead to meningitis.

Polio

A potentially deadly infectious disease, polio can affect the brain and spinal cord; causing paralysis.

Tetanus

The most common symptoms are painful lockjaw and muscle stiffness, and it may put a baby’s life at risk.

Rotavirus

This may severely dehydrate your child by causing watery diarrhea, vomiting, fever, and abdominal pain.

Varicella (chickenpox)

Chickenpox causes an itchy rash of blisters accompanied high fever, and can be life-threatening in babies with weakened immune systems.
