The GI map looks for the presence or absence of bacterial, viral, and parasite infections and the presence of H. Pylori and healthy gut flora. What to expect during a GI-Map test?

The doctor or nursing staff will provide you with detailed instructions on how to collect a sample for your GI Map Test; these might include the following:

  • Urinate before collecting stool if possible.
  • Put on your gloves and place the stool in the collection tray provided.
  • Open the vial to put the specimen. The pink liquid in the specimen vial should not be discarded.
  • Transfer stool from several sample locations into the vial with the spoon attached to the vial’s cap.
  • Go from left to right and collect your sample from at least four different areas.
  • Fill the specimen vial to the red “fill line” on the label; If your sample is insufficient, it may not be processed.
  • Using the spoon sticking to the cap, carefully mix the feces and the pink fluid in the specimen vial.
  • Close the lid securely and thoroughly shake the vial for 30 seconds.
  • Submit your sample to our laboratory staff when you are ready, and your results will be sent to you and your doctor.
